  • ROSELLE, N.J. — Seton Hall may remain an underdog to blue chip programs Duke, Kansas and Arizona in the Trevon Duval Sweepstakes but rule them out at your own peril.

Seton Hall sounds like a legitimate option for the 6-foot-3 point guard who used to play at St. Benedict’s Prep in Newark and returned to the Garden State for two games this weekend with his IMG Academy (FL) team.

About 150 blue-clad Pirates fans showed out at Roselle Catholic High School on Super Bowl Sunday to support Duval in his showdown against The Patrick School, the No. 1 team in the Garden State. Pirates head coach Kevin Willard and his entire staff were on hand. And several key Seton Hall players, including juniors Angel Delgado and Desi Rodriguez and freshman Myles Powell, Duval’s close friends, were also in the building.

SANTA ANA, Calif. — David McCormack, the Class of 2018 center from Oak Hill (VA) Academy, said three schools are recruiting him the hardest on Friday as Oak Hill defeated Foothills Christian by a score of 86-59.

McCormack named Kansas, Louisville, and Texas as the three schools working the hardest for his recruitment. He mentioned that “a lot of other schools are jumping into my recruitment right now”.

McCormack finished the game on Friday with 6 points and 13 rebounds.

Peace Ilegomah, a 6-foot-10 center from Montverde (FL) Academy, committed to Pittsburgh on Friday, becoming the sixth commit in their 2017 class.

The native Nigerian joins point guards Marcus Carr and Aaron Thompson, shooting guard Jared Wilson-Frame, small forward Shamiel Stevenson and power forward Terrell Brown in Pitt’s 2017 class. Carr also plays at Montverde.

Ilegomah also held offers from St. Louis, Seton Hall and Quinnipiac. Pitt assistant Kevin Sutton is the former head coach at Montverde.

“Peace has gotten a lot better from the start of the season to now,” Montverde assistant Rae Miller said. “His best years are still ahead of him. He’s athletic and strong, able to rebound and defend at a high level.”

Ilegomah got his start with the Sports U AAU program in New Jersey.
