  • Future Kentucky guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was on hand to see his future team on Wednesday night.

The 6-foot-5 Alexander visited Rupp Arena with his Hamilton Heights (TN) teammates as the No. 6 Wildcats handled Valparaiso, 87-63

On a night when 27 NBA scouts were in attendance, freshman big man Bam Adebayo went for 16 points and 7 rebounds, Malik Monk scored 15 points, Derek Willis tallied 12 and Isaiah Briscoe finished with 10. De’Aaron Fox had 9 points and 5 assists and now has 67 assists on the season. Tyler Ulis, who set the single-season assist record last year, had 37 at this point, per ESPN’s Chris Spatola.

NEW YORK — On a night when Madison Square Garden was chock full of stars, Scottie Lewis and Bryan Antoine sat courtside and soaked it all in.

The two Class of 2019 players from the Ranney School (N.J.) and the Team Rio AAU program sat in the third row for Duke’s 84-74 victory over Florida in the Jimmy V Classic.

They were joined in the crowd by two pretty good former New Jersey and Duke guards in Kyrie Irving of the Cavaliers and ESPN’s Jay Williams.

“It’s always a great experience to be able to watch college basketball, just see how the teams play, watch the coaches, watch the publicity around the game, it’s just an honor to be here,” Lewis told me.

The 6-foot-5 Lewis is a small forward ranked No. 16 in the 2019 ESPN 25, while the 6-4 Antoine is a shooting guard ranked No. 8.

Kentucky coach John Calipari and Kentucky-bound guard Quade Green were among those on hand Sunday afternoon watching Mohamed Bamba and Hamidou Diallo in the PSA Cardinals Showcase at The Hill School in Pottstown, Pa.

Villanova coach Jay Wright, UConn’s Dwayne Killings, Harvard’s Brian Eskildsen, St. Joe’s Phil Martelli, Temple’s Fran Dunphy, Penn State’s Pat Chambers, Virginia Tech’s Buzz Williams and USF’s Oliver Antigua were also on hand, according to Pat Lawless and other reports.

After committing to the Wildcats last month, Green said he now has his sights set on adding Bamba,  Diallo and Kevin Knox to another emerging star-studded class at Kentucky.

Duke officially announced the signing of its three-man class of Gary Trent Jr., Wendell Carter Jr. and Alex O’Connell.

The Class of 2017 group is ranked No. 4 by Scout.com behind Kentucky, UCLA and Arizona.

The 6-foot-5 Trent Jr. is a five-star recruit ranked as the No. 8 overall prospect and the No. 1 shooting guard in the class of 2017 by ESPN.

“He works at his game,” Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said. “He wants to be an outstanding player. He wants to do the process.”

Kentucky and UCLA aren’t just two of the most storied programs in college basketball history, they are also at the frontier of recruiting the next wave of stars.

The Wildcats and the Bruins — who will meet on Saturday afternoon at Rupp Arena (12:30, CBS) — have the Nos. 1 and 2-ranked recruiting classes in the Class of 2017, according to both Scout.com and ESPN.com.

Kentucky’s four-man class includes guards Quade Green and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and bigs P.J. Washington and Nick Richards. (Alexander went for 21 points in Hamilton Heights’ (TN) win Thursday night on ESPN2).

UCLA, meantime, has a five-man class that features guards Jaylen Hands and LiAngelo Ball, small forward Kris Wilkes and bigs Cody Riley and Jalen Hill.
