NEWARK -- Seton Hall's leading scorer Khadeen Carrington dislocated
NEWARK — Myles Powell is friends with Trevon Duval and would love for Duval to join him at Seton Hall next season.
“We talk a lot,” Powell told me Sunday after dropping 19 points in Seton Hall’s 86-73 beatdown of St. John’s. “I bring it up sometimes, ask him if he wanna come be my point guard. I’m going to just worry about what I’m doing over here, let him finish off his high school career on a good note. He just got nominated for the McDonald’s All-American Game. I congratulated him.
“I guess after all his accolades and the high school season’s done, then we can move forward into that.”
Asked how much the 6-foot-3 Duval could help Seton Hall, Powell said, “Amazing. I know how Coach [Kevin Willard] lets his guards go. I feel like he would fit in perfect here, I tell him that all the time and hopefully the job gets done.”
NEWARK — Angel Delgado backed down Tariq Owens on the block midway through the second half and overpowered him for a soft layup off the glass.
Owens was giving up about 40 pounds to the 6-foot-10, 240-pound Delgado, who over-matched and over-powered Owens and the entire Red Storm front line to the tune of 21 points and 20 rebounds in a 86-73 Pirates’ win at Prudential Center.
It was the Big East’s first 20-20 game since Providence’s Jamine “Greedy” Peterson in 2010. Delgado’s 14th double-double ties him for third nationally.
“It feels great, that was my dream,” said Delgado, adding that he had a 19-point, 19-rebound game as a freshman. “As soon as I came to the school, I say one day I gotta get 20 and 20, and I did it. I feel great right now.”
VILLANOVA, Pa. — Jay Wright and the Villanova Wildcats are the defending national champions, and the current No. 1 team in the country.
But they’re still learning.
“I think we learned a great lesson last year,” Wright said about Villanova achieving their No. 1 ranking. “We learned a lesson again when we went to Butler. You keep learning from it, that’s what we take from it.”
After scooping up their 47th straight victory at the Pavilion Monday night in a 76-46 rout of Seton Hall, the Wildcats improved to 18-1 on the season. For a senior laden team whose been to the pinnacle of success in the world of college basketball, the idea that the group can learn much more may seem foreign.
For a team coached by the likes of Wright, it’s nothing out of the ordinary.

NEWARK — Make that 21 straight wins by Seton Hall when Angel Delgado double-dips.
The junior big man powered the Pirates to a 72-61 win over Rutgers behind his 19 points and 16 rebounds. It was the third straight win for Seton Hall in the Garden State Hardwood Classic, and Delgado’s performance garnered his second straight Joe Calabrese MVP of the game trophy.
“I feel great,” Delgado said after the win. “We keep showing that we’re the best team in New Jersey.”
Delgado set fire to Twitter last week after Seton Hall’s win over Delaware when he said that Rutgers could be the No. 1 team in the nation, but the Pirates were still going to beat them.

After starting the game slow – along with the rest of the Pirates who shot just 24 percent from the field in the first half – Delgado stepped up in the second half to become the difference-maker, finishing 7-of-19 from the field.
