  • NEW YORKKhadeen Carrington insists he didn’t have any flashbacks to last year’s Big East Tournament run on Monday night.

“We was focused on tonight,” Carrington said.

Last March, of course, the Pirates won three straight Big East Tournament games — handing eventual NCAA champion Villanova what turned out to be its final loss of the 2015-16 season — en route to the Big East Tournament championship and an automatic berth into the Big Dance.

Some of that Madison Square Garden magic returned for the Pirates when they stunned previously unbeaten and No. 16 South Carolina, 67-64, in the Under Armour Reunion at the Garden. It was the Pirates’ fourth straight victory against a Top 25 team.

Boston College edged Auburn, 72-71, in the first game of the doubleheader.

David Beatty , the 6-foot-4 combo guard from Philadelphia (PA) Imhotep Institute, committed to South Carolina on Monday.

The No. 7 combo guard in the Class of 2017 according to 247Sports.com, Beatty also considered Indiana, Georgetown and Maryland.

“Dave is a physical big guard with good athleticism,” Imhotep coach Andre Noble said. “Winning is very important to him. He’s a very coachable, smart player.  I think as he continues to improve his shooting it’s going to be very hard for guys at next level to stay in front of him.  He has very good court vision, too.”

Felipe Haase, a 6-foot-10 center from Miami (FL) Christian, committed to South Carolina after taking his official visit to the school last weekend. He will sign a Letter of Intent on Thursday.

A native of Chile, he also considered Pitt, Purdue and Missouri.

“I’m very excited to sign my Letter of Intent today with South Carolina,” he said. “It’s been a longtime dream of mine to play NCAA college basketball. I’m very fortunate to be in this position. I want to thank the University of Purdue, Pittsburgh, Missouri for all their efforts in recruiting me. I want to thank my mentor Art Alvarez, and my high school coach Juan Cardona. I want to also thank my home country of Chile for all the support you have provided me over the years.”

Haase is South Carolina’s third commit, following 6-7 small forward Ibrahim Doumbia and 7-foot center Jason Cudd.
