  • New Tulane coach Mike Dunleavy Sr. scored a double-double on Friday when he landed a pair of talented African big men from The Patrick School in Hillside, N.J.

Bul Ajang, 6-foot-9, and Buay Koka, 7-foot, both committed to Tulane following an official visit to campus last week. Both players are originally from South Sudan, and have been in the U.S. for four years.

“Both Bul Ajang and Buay Koka have committed to Tulane University,” head coach Chris Chavannes told ZAGSBLOG. “They have spent the past four summers playing and training in Mississippi.

“They enjoyed their visit and Bul Ajang loved their engineering program.  They also like the like the concept of growing with the program. I think it will be a good fit for both boys.  They both have yet to reach their potential.  This will be great for Tulane University.”

Koran Godwin, an NBA skills trainer originally from New Jersey, worked with both players and the other Patrick School kids this week.

“I think that both of them coming, [Dunleavy] got two steals, guys that are going to come into your program, work hard and in a couple of years you’re going to be like, ‘Wow,'” he said.

In past years, the Metro Classic at Kean University in New Jersey has featured future NBA players Karl-Anthony Towns, Ben Simmons and Wade Baldwin.

This season’s event — slated for Feb. 10-11 back at Kean — will once again be loaded, with national powers Montverde Academy (FL) and Oak Hill Academy (VA) joining New Jersey powers St. Benedict’s, St. Anthony’s, Roselle Catholic and Hudson Catholic, among others.

Montverde features Class of 2019 Canadian stars Andrew Nembhard and R.J. Barrett.

NEW YORK — Nick Richards tripped to Kentucky for the second time in a month last weekend for Big Blue Madness and still ranks the Wildcats among those at the top of his college wish list.

“It was good, I liked it,” the 6-foot-11 Richards told me before scoring 10 points and winning the Sportsmanship Award as the New Jersey Upperclassmen lost to the New York Upperclasssmen, 103-92, in the Sharette Dixon Classic at Gauchos Gym. “It was a nice experience.”

He added: “It was like a family-type thing. Everybody treats each other like family. I just like the whole vibe, even the coaches.”

HILLSIDE, N.J. Marcus McClary is headed to Monmouth.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound guard from St. Patrick’s High School committed to the MAAC school during a press conference on Tuesday. He visited Monmouth officially this past weekend.

    McClary also considered Old Dominion.

“It was more like a family atmosphere for me,” he said. “And when I got down there I just felt all the love and I knew this was the spot for me.”

This figures to be another busy week for Nick Richards and his teammates at St. Patrick’s High School in New Jersey.

Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim is due in on Tuesday to see the 6-foot-11 Richards, while Arizona coach Sean Miller is expected Wednesday.

“I’m considering every school,” Richards told me last week, referring to a group that includes Kentucky, Indiana, UConn, Syracuse and Arizona.

On Friday, Richards is poised to take his first official visit to Kentucky. Wildcats coach John Calipari has met with Richards twice in the last two weeks, including a home visit with Richards’ family.
