    Following an official visit to Kansas last weekend, Billy Preston, the 6-foot-10 Class of 2017 forward from Oak Hill Academy (VA), will take one to Syracuse the weekend of Oct. 14, Oak Hill coach Steve Smith said.

    Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim recently visited Preston at Oak Hill, the powerhouse that also produced former Syracuse and current Knicks star Carmelo Anthony.

    “He’s [a] top-5 [player] in the country, I don’t care what scouting services say,” Oak Hill coach Steve Smith said of Preston. “Nobody has his skill level and upside at 6-9. He can score off the bounce, get to the rim, shoot the three, and pass and handle like a guard.”

    Following an official visit to Kansas over the weekend, Billy Preston, the 6-foot-10 Class of 2017 forward from Oak Hill Academy (VA), picked up a scholarship offer from Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim on Monday.

    Boeheim visited Preston at Oak Hill, the powerhouse that also produced former Syracuse and current Knicks star Carmelo Anthony.

    Kentucky, Recruiting, St. Patrick

    This figures to be another busy week for Nick Richards and his teammates at St. Patrick’s High School in New Jersey.

    Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim is due in on Tuesday to see the 6-foot-11 Richards, while Arizona coach Sean Miller is expected Wednesday.

    “I’m considering every school,” Richards told me last week, referring to a group that includes Kentucky, Indiana, UConn, Syracuse and Arizona.

    On Friday, Richards is poised to take his first official visit to Kentucky. Wildcats coach John Calipari has met with Richards twice in the last two weeks, including a home visit with Richards’ family.

    TRENTON, N.J.     — The much-anticipated battle between Syracuse commit Tyler Roberson and Kentucky pledge Karl Towns Jr. did not live up to the hype after all.

    Roberson outscored Towns Jr. 19-7 as head coach Dave Boff and Roselle Catholic won their first-ever New Jersey Tournament of Champions title, 65-49, over St. Joe’s-Metuchen before a crowd of 6,084 at Sun National Bank Center.

    “It’s a good feeling,” the 6-foot-9 Roberson, who had a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds to go with two blocks, told SNY.tv. “I always wanted one [a state title] when I was in middle school and high school. It was like a dream and now it’s come true. So it’s just amazing.”
