SOUDERTON, Pa. — Eric Dixon remembers what it was like to work his way into the rotation as a freshman at Abington (Pa.).

Playing on a roster stacked with seniors, he showcased much of what would eventually make him into a heralded prospect. The soft hands, the smooth jump shot, the tenacious rebounding ability and the ability to run the floor were some aspects of his game that showed the player he would become.

The 6-foot-7, 275-pound forward earned his spot in the Galloping Ghosts rotation from day one but he knows when he arrives on the campus of Villanova University this summer that mentality of wanting to start as a true freshman must endure to compete for minutes.

[Jay Wright] recruited me closely and it’s one of the reasons I picked there,” Dixon said. “It’s an open opportunity. If you show up in practice, especially over the summer and show you’re worthy of starting minutes then it’s going to happen.”

Villanova freshman guard Jahvon Quinerly will transfer and will place his name into the NCAA Transfer portal later this week, the school announced.

Pittsburgh is expected to be heavily in the mix for Quinerly, sources said.

“We had a very candid meeting and Jahvon has decided to transfer to another program,” said Villanova head coach Jay Wright. “We’ll miss Jahvon. He’s been an outstanding teammate and was an integral part of our success last season. We wish him the best as he approaches the next step in his basketball career.”

CHAMBLEE, Ga. – After their attempt to repeat as national champions was thwarted on Saturday, the Villanova Wildcats are ready to re-load with a four-man recruiting class that includes McDonald’s All-Americans Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and Bryan Antoine.

“We’re going to be something special to watch,” said the 6-foot-4 Antoine at media day Tuesday. “I’m here with Jeremiah [Robinson-Earl]. Jeremiah and I have had the same coach since freshman year, so the chemistry is already there.”

Antoine also made it clear that the duo have a great relationship off the court.

“It’s crazy,” said Antoine. “We text each other every day. We FaceTime and snapchat each other. It’s very cool.”

The pair will have their first opportunity to play alongside each other under the bright lights in Wednesday’s McDonald’s All-American Game (7 p.m., ESPN2), as they will both represent the West Team.
