Isaiah Briscoe’s recruitment was bound to be fluid after he decided to wait until the spring to make his decision.
And it just got a lot more interesting.
As first reported by SNY.tv, Kentucky has jumped into the mix, UConn is back in and other new schools like Georgia Tech are trying to get in.
Kentucky, which will also watch 2016 Gill St. Bernard’s guard Tyus Battle on Friday, has scheduled an in-home visit with the 6-foot-3 Briscoe for Sept. 18, Roselle (N.J.) Catholic coach Dave Boff told SNY.tv Monday evening.
“Kentucky has gotten involved with Isaiah again and he is excited to visit with the staff,” Boff said.
“Kentucky has done an amazing job recruiting kids and developing kids so its a great opportunity for Isaiah to speak to them and talk about where he would fit in their program.”
Kentucky has just one commitment for 2015 in shooting guard Charles Matthews, and recently missed out on Antonio Blakeney, when he pledged to Louisville.
Meantime, Seton Hall will meet with Briscoe on Saturday at his home, while Georgia Tech, which had not previously been in the mix, comes in to RC on Sunday, Boff said. Missouri will also come in at some point.
Briscoe has also set an official to UConn for Sept. 26.
Previously, UConn had appeared to be out of the mix after landing point guard Jalen Adams of Brewster (N.H.) Academy.
“UConn and Coach [Kevin] Ollie have been recruiting Isaiah for a long time and Isaiah is looking forward to taking his official visit there towards the end of September,” Boff said.
The UConn official is the only one set right now.
“He wants to take his five visits,” George Briscoe, Isaiah’s father, said.
Briscoe had previously cut his list to seven schools — St. John’s, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Arizona, Villanova, UConn and Louisville — but as we mentioned could happen, that list is now in flux.
Several of those schools have since added one or two guards, with Rutgers recently landing point guard Corey Sanders, Louisville adding Blakeney and combo guard Donovan Mitchell and Arizona securing point guard Justin Simon and two guard Allonzo Trier.
Villanova remains in the final two for Chicago-area point guard Jalen Brunson, who announces Wednesday for Illinois or the Wildcats.
Briscoe had a brilliant summer, winning gold with the USA U18 team at the FIBA Americas Championship and leading the NJ Playaz to the Peach Jam title in July.
